Daryn Strauss, Director, Writer and Producer
As writer/director/producer/co-star of the critically acclaimed online dramedy series DOWNSIZED, Daryn Strauss’s unique voice has been praised by the Los Angeles Times, Fast Company, Bostinnovation, NewTeeVee, Tubefilter, Clicker, and Daytime Confidential.
Daryn was recently nominated for a 2012 Writers Guild Award for Outstanding Achievement in Writing Original New Media for her work on the second season of Downsized.
The Los Angeles Times recently named Downsized “the best of the straight-ahead dramas (on the web),” and Fast Company, Bostinnovation, YouTube and Clicker have all included Downsized on their Best Of lists. Now in its second season, Downsized was also an Official Selection at the prestigious Cologne Conference in Germany and nominated as Best Web Comedy by Clicker.com in 2010.
Daryn has also written for GRITtv and Game Room.
One of the first 22 digital media signatories to the Writers Guild of America East in 2009, Daryn was recently one of 14 writers nominated to the Writers Guild of America East Council. A vocal advocate for diversity in digital media, in June she was invited to speak at an internet policy hearing on Capitol Hill, with her speech on net neutrality showcased on Free Press.
As Creative Director of DigitalChickTV.com, a guide to online videos for women, Daryn has spoken on several panels about digital media for WGAE and NYWIFT. She is an Associate Member of the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, which votes on the Webbys, and a Member of the International Academy of Web Television.

I don’t know how you found us on Twitter, but I’m so happy you did. This website is phenomenal! For the past hour, I’ve been watching various web series on here. I’m obsessed now!
Your own show, Downsized, is great. Love the writing. I’m a NY-based writer/actress/producer. Along with my producing partner, Stacey Holman, I’m in the process of building a website – StaceyandTraceeTV.com. As we’ve both spent goo-gobs of money funding our own individual and collective projects in the past, we are pretty tapped out. So we opted to use Kickstarter.com as a platform to raise money. Let’s just say it hasn’t been a stellar showing. It seems so difficult to get people to “get” us. We want our site to be as interactive as possible and thus decided to let the public choose our debut web series via online vote. They seem to be baffled. lol!
But finding The Digital Chicks lets me know that there are other women out there on similar journeys. I love it! Kudos to all of the Digital Chicks and best wishes with your projects! Anyway, now that I’ve “found” you, I will be tuning in often. Our project is taking up so much time and effort, but today I decided to breathe a little to enjoy the work of others. So glad I did.

We’ve actually spent so much of our own money financing our individual and collective projects, that we are tapped out! So we’ve turned to Kickstarter.com as a platform to raise money. That’s a great resource and I hope everyone on this site is utilizing it.
We want StaceyandTraceeTV.com to be interactive so we’re allowing the public to choose our debut web series via vote. I think some folks are baffled. lol!
