RCVR is not your old school extra-terrestrial show. In this new high-concept series from online giant Machinima, everyday people discover they’re mediums between humans and extra-terrestrials. The chosen people… but what are they chosen for?
Launching its first episode September 21st with new episodes coming weekly, the superb mind-bending series takes a look inside the efforts of SIGMA, a secret government agency created in the 70s with the sole purpose of covering up signs of alien life on earth while investigating their authenticity. Like Close Encounters of The Third Kind before it, these “transmitters” and their “investigators” are living with the impending doom of discovering what these aliens want from us.
While the online series itself is highly produced with creative special effects, the show has also begun to built an entire transmedia world around RCVR, or “extendeduniverse” in the word of creator David Van Eyssen, including an “authentic-looking” website for SIGMA (http://www.sigma-agency.org/) and a website and twitter account for “conspiracy theorist Alvin Peters” (http://www.projectrcvr.com/). The goal of course is to extend the series to multiple platforms including film and television.
So far, it’s pretty slick and unexpected. Check it out.
