Coming out is a long process with many steps. Here’s another powerful episode from Out With Dad, the drama about growing pains for daughter and dad as teenaged Rose goes through the process of coming out. Congratulations to creator Jason Leaver and the cast and crew for a beautiful, poignant episode about how sexuality is viewed within communities and just how weird people can be about what is considered “normal.” Personally, I do not even know what “normal” is, but I’m pretty sure eliminating people you love from your life aint it.

I’m very proud of this episode. I’m still awestruck by my cast. Their performances made editing quite challenging with tears building up in my eyes while I worked. Only to later be accompanied by Adrian Ellis’s score which absolutely nails it.

So glad you enjoyed the episode! This was definately an emotional one for us to film. I’m completely taken by the response it’s getting as I know Jason is. I’m so proud to be a part of this episode and the show in general. I’d like to give a shout out to Jason who is as brilliant a director on set as he is off set. Situations like the ones in this episode can be difficult to portray emotionally and Jason creates a very safe area on set filled with support and encouragement which enables us to deliver the best performances we can. Here’s to you Captain Leaver!
