Bandwagon

It is always good to have women with good taste around. I discovered this hilarious show thanks to the girls at Indie Intertube. Created by a triumverate of chicks Karri Bowman, Emma Caulfield, and Camilla Rantsen, Bandwagon is a satirical mockumentary in the style of Christopher Guest that follows Buffy’s Emma Caulfield (playing herself), as she attempts to become a more evolved human being and do some completely misguided humanitarian good.

The series was birthed as indie film (also called Bandwagon and available online) in which Emma attempts to launch the acting career of a mentally handicapped friend (played by Karri Bowman, who also co-writes and directs). The 2011 web series follows Emma as she decides to partner with Cold Case’s Tracie Thoms in developing a new TV show… “an urban Glee,” in her new quest to be an advocate for African Americans in Hollywood. Heehee. Check out the latest episode where Tracie’s African American friends including Yvette Nicole Brown from Community just aint having it.

Bandwagon suffered some distribution issues as a film but is really finding its stride as a web series, as it capitalizes on the trend of celebrity reality TV currently filling up your 2,000 television channels. Of course, these girls satirize the crap out of it! Bandwagon airs weekly on Wednesdays. Bandwagon is currently 4 hilariously hypocritical episodes in. Get hooked.

Emma and Camilla will be on Indie Intertube’s podcast later at 7 PM EST tonight. Tune in!
