How did I miss the release of Episode 2 of one of my new favorite dramas Los Americans?! Here’s a double dose — Episodes 2 and 3 of the new drama that focuses on the dynamics within a Mexican American family after the mild-mannered, middle-of-the-road father (played by hottie Esai Morales) loses his job.
Lee Valenzuela has built himself the American Dream while minimizing his Mexican heritage, but once he is downsized, he is forced to spend some time coming face to face with his roots. Self-assured wife (Yvonne Delarosa) is now the breadwinner. Mother (Lupe Ontiveros) is an alcoholic. Teen daughter (Ann Vilafane) is amidst some major trouble with a fast-moving crowd. And at the bequest of his family, he has an illegal immigrant (Bibiana Navas) living with him. And that’s just the women in his life! This superbly acted drama depicts the realistic struggles of a middle class Mexican American family. Shows like this are the reason we should be thankful for an open internet.
