So, it’s my birthday today, and I decided that the best gift this year is for all of you to watch some great web shows. So here are some of my favorites! If you’re new to web series, here’s your intro! Lots of fabulous series for grownups!
DOWNSIZED
Duh… it’s my show! Here’s the latest episode. Gift some views!
THEN WE GOT HELP!
Yeah, I’m in this… But it’s also such a great episode. Smart, funny, dramatic.
BERNIE
I just love this show, and not because the cast has awesome Australian accents. It’s well-written and beautifully acted. This episode cracked me up. It’s safe for work, despite the title, and you’ll see why.
BESTSELLERS
A great show from the mind of Susan Miller, this was one of my favorite episodes featuring Alice Barden as Zoe, a successful entrepreneur trying to navigate the job market after 50.
THE MISADVENTURES OF AWKWARD BLACK GIRL
This list would not be complete without this totally politically incorrect series from Issa Rae. Here’s the latest. So wrong yet so right.
PRETTY
Steve Silverman’s smart little parody of child beauty pageants ended its second season with… well, watch. It’s so genius.
EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE
British accents this time! This quirky, original little show follows two misfit wanderers stranded in the wrong Portland.
OUT WITH DAD
This sweet Canadian series follows a suburban father-daughter relationship as the teenage daughter comes out of the closet. This is such a dear episode. Dad, who suspects daughter is gay, takes her out to a movie to get her to feel comfortable coming out, and we see what’s going on in their minds.
FUMBLING THRU THE PIECES
And lastly, for a little Boys on the Side and Beaches, check out this great series about female friendship starring Hillary B. Smith of One Life to Live. Here’s one of my fave episodes!
Hope you enjoy!
Love you all,
Daryn
