Created by 18-year old filmmaker Nicholas Carlton in 2009, OzGirl is an Australian-based faux documentary about Sadie (Sophie Tilson), a teenaged country girl who moves to Melbourne to try and make it as a photographer. Told in the form of a video blog, this show follows Sadie’s naive escapades as her roommate, former child-actress Megan (Shanrah Wakefield) tries to teach her the ways of city life. Shot guerillla-style and completely improvised, the show was one of the earliest online shows to incorporate interactivity, with the characters interacting with fans on facebook and twitter. It also incorporated some hip unsigned indie music. Oz Girl became a global sensation quickly, ultimately winning awards at ITV Festival and the Streamys.
